Instrumentation Development
New optical methods are being developed at the University of Utah. Faculty from the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, and Physics are involved in building new instruments capable of characterizing molecular scale events.
Faculty:
- Adam Frost (Biochemistry) - Cryo-electron microscopy.
- Jordan Gerton (Physics) – AFM, near-field fluorescence.
- Joel Harris (Chem) – Single-molecule TIRF microscopy, confocal Raman microscopy.
- Erik Jorgensen (Biol) – Electron microscopy, superresolution microscopy.
- Rajesh Menon (ECE) – Optical nanotechnologies.
- Saveez Saffarian (Physics) – Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy.
- Tolga Tasdizen (ECE) – Machine learning and image analysis.
- Michael Vershinin (Physics) – Optical trapping.
