Center for Cell and Genome Science at the University of Utah
The Center promotes interdisciplinary approaches to fundamental questions in cell biology. One challenge is to understand how genes and proteins contribute to the function of differentiated cells. Biologists alone cannot meet this challenge. Physicists and engineers are developing new instrumentation to assay protein functions and behavior. Chemists are designing new methods to activate, disrupt or label molecular machinery. The goal of the center is foster collaborative research in cell biology that crosses the traditional boundaries of disciplines in the sciences.
